audiomanufaktur has its origins in 1986, when a few musicians had the idea of producing and marketing their own recordings. Over time, other musicians joined in, and what started as a small idea to produce for themselves quickly turned into a small business.
Over the years, a lot was invested, rebuilt, changed, adapted, and sold again. Of course, it was necessary to keep up with all the technical developments, but at the same time, everyone wanted to sing into the historic microphones or record using the preamplifier from that one particular manufacturer. As a result, audiomanufaktur eventually accumulated its own museum.
Since it is more important today to show images rather than focus the senses on sound, and the collection is full of treasures of sound design, the decision was made quite quickly to partially abandon the digital path and return to the roots: analog production with the best the market has to offer—and, to be honest, with whatever was gathering dust in the basement.
Another reason for analog production is simply the fact that digital technology is usually unable to reproduce an acoustic instrument with all its tonal variations or transients cleanly. Of course, the final step here is also digitization—but in HiRes audio. The entire preceding chain remains analog. This difference is like a force of nature. Once you've heard it, you won't want to hear anything else. Especially not videos with the same rhythms and soundscapes that you've seen a thousand times before. Unfortunately, sensory perception through the eyes has become more important than sound today. The message is conveyed through the image, and the sound is secondary.
That's why audiomanufaktur exists. Analog is not a thing of the past, but important for experiencing sound.
Today, there is one person behind audiomanufaktur: Guido Köpke. He is a passionate acoustic guitarist himself, but also a trained sound engineer and mastering engineer.
audiomanufaktur wants to offer solo artists playing acoustic instruments in particular the opportunity to capture and present their skills in the best possible way.
